Thai government blames K-pop girl groups for rise in Dengue fever cases

 

n October 5th, MBC’s “News Today” reported that Thailand has been enjoying the popularity of Korean girl groups immensely, particularly by copying their fashion styles. Nicknamed the “Korean Style,” hot pants have become a staple item among Thailand’s youth.

However, with the increasing cases of Dengue fever in Thailand, the government has specifically targeted Korea’s hot pants as the reason behind the rise.

The deputy director of the Ministry of Health and Welfare stated in an interview with MBC, “The youth have been copying Korean styles and wearing shorter clothing, making them more susceptible to mosquito bites. We are suggesting that they wear longer clothing in place of shorts.”

BoA’s spread leg dance sparks controversy

BoA has been impressing the nation with her newest track “Copy & Paste” but even Korea’s best singer is sparking some controversy.

Her new song’s choreography has a part where she spreads her legs and bends down. This move has become the centre of debate because it’s been deemed as ‘too sexual’.

The netizens have split opinions about the dance. Some are saying,

“I was watching it with my family and it was a bit awkward.”
“Rainbow’s dance is nothing compared to this.”
“Isn’t that too sexual even though it’s BoA?”
“It’s short but still inappropriate for a show that has a 15+ age rating.”

Others are saying,

“The whole dance is not like that. The captured photo makes it seem worse.”
“People dance like that in America all the time. I guess BoA is doing it too.”
“It’s just a performance. Don’t read too deep into it.”

SNSD’s Daum search application CF

Even though the members of SNSD or Girls’ Generation are quite busy with their overseas activities in Japan, Korean fans were surprised with a pleasant gift of a CF for Daum’s search application showing the girls’ normal life. The commercial has four parts divided between the members.

Part one is between Yoona and Yuri as they search for a crab restaurant while getting their nails done. Seeing as typing on touch screen devices is rather difficult with fresh nail polish on, Yoona has a frustrating fit while Yuri saves the day with her wit. Part two is between Seohyun and Sooyoung where the former day dreams about a date on an island. Part three is between Taeyeon and Jessica chatting while searching for the latest posts or news on Jessica. It is another natural scene depicting a casual day between Taeyeon & Jessica. Lastly, part four involves Sunny, Hyoyeon and a napping Tiffany as they pass the time by reading fan letters.

U-KISS teaser image for comeback

U-KISS is set to comeback on October 4 with their 4th mini album “BREAK TIME”. A few days ago, they revealed the album cover along with tracklist and now they’ve revealed a teaser photo to their title track music video. They look sexier than ever in the teaser picture, successfully transforming into the “bad boy” image for their new concept.

A representative of U-KISS’s agency revealed, “Their teaser will officially be revealed on the afternoon of the 3rd through their official homepage. We’re very excited that fans are already so excited before their official teaser is even out, but it’s also a lot of pressure. Please anticipate U-KISS’s new images once the teaser is released.”

U-KISS will be making their official comeback through M.Net’s “M Countdown” on the 7th.

2NE1 thanks CEO Yang for their consistent wins

2NE1 has been dominating music programs with triple-crown comeback tracks, “Can’t Nobody”, “Go Away”, and “Clap Your Hands”. The photo above was sent on October 1st via cellphone to the YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk after the girls won their 7th 1st place win on “Music Bank”. This was also their 3rd straight victory on “Music Bank."
