Actress Lee Yeon Hee has decided to move her cyber activities from Twitter to her own personal Cyworld minihompy.

On October 10th, she tweeted, “Everyone~~~ The world is evolving so fast, but I don’t know much about machines. I’ll just cut my Twitter use here, sorry~^^; I’ll be making a new minihompy so please use that. It was a short time but using Twitter with everyone was fun~~ Now it’s D-day2. Goodbye ^^”

Due to fans being upset with her leave, she tweeted again on the 11th, “Honestly, not knowing about machines is just an excuse. I’m just afraid of having no private life protection. I just randomly felt it one moment~ Please don’t be too disappointed~ I always feel your hearts with mine.”

Despite her clarification, fans continued to express their disappointment, causing her to add, “My company isn’t restricting anything from me~^^ I just felt a lot of things after watching the news. Other countries have internet outsiders because of this. I’m just nervous in case my personal information gets hacked. A representative of SM Entertainment spoke with Star News regarding the issue and revealed, “Just like what she stated, Lee Yeon Hee quit Twitter on her own after watching news on social networking services. She explained the situation honestly due to her fans being so upset. Lee Yeon Hee does feel sorry about her leave, but like she stated, she will be able to converse with her fans through her minihompy so please don’t be too upset.”

Rodney Jerkins' Thoughts About JYJ

The trio teamed up with A-list US producers Kanye West and Rodney Jerkins for the much anticipated album and recently Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins shared his thoughts on working with the boys.

Rodney Jerkins is a top producer who worked with artists such as Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Pussycat Dolls, Mary J. Blige, Ciara and more. He also worked with YG Entertainment star Se7en producing songs for his American debut and is considered to be one of the top producers in the world.

Won Bin does charity work in East Timor

Actor Won Bin recently participated in charity work with the children of East Timor.

Won Bin acted as the special representative of UNICEF on September 12th through the 17th in East Timor. He watched over the vaccinations and educational work being done on site by UNICEF.

Won Bin stayed in Emera, a poverty stricken mountain village, in order to visit the children. He personally gave each child polio vaccinations along with feeding them vitamin A capsules. Won Bin also made a donation with his fans.

Upon coming across a 1 year old baby girl suffering from pneumonia and malnutrition, Won Bin personally took her to the health center to get her treated since it was too far from her home. After watching over the procedures, he commented, “The child keeps crying, it’s making me worry. I hope that she receives good treatment and gets better soon. I ask for you to please send her your love.”

Won Bin spent the rest of his time with a seven year old girl named Elli who lost her mother and is currently living at a relatives with her younger sibling. He spent a meaningful time with her by consoling her and drawing together.

Won Bin’s stay in East Timor will be created into a UNICEF public service ad and will broadcast on cable TV channels starting from the 20th.

In 2007, Won Bin was appointed the special representative of UNICEF and aggressively worked under UNICEF by advertising the organization and donating towards causes. In 2009, he visited Zambia.

To celebrate his casting as the leading male role for the musical “Caffeine“, SS501’s Kim Hyung Joon will be presenting 1,000 of his lucky fans with a special limited edition of his ‘Secret Package’ DVD, which contains performances from Singapore, behind-the-scenes footage, and a mini photobook.

S Plus Entertainment stated, “Kim Hyung Joon was thinking of a special gift to give fans on his official homepage. He came up with the idea of gifting his ‘Secret Package’ DVD since it was released to international fans first. This will be the first special event on his homepage and will be given to 1,000 fans.”

His homepage first opened on October 4th, but consistently receives an overwhelming amount of traffic, forcing technicians to monitor the server every hour to prevent crashes.

SNSD’s Seohyun Ranked #1 for Best Natural Beauty

SNSD’s maknae Seohyun was recently picked as the best natural beauty out of girl group members.

According to a poll that was conducted by a cosmetics surgery hospital in Seoul, results showed that out of the 781 netizens who participated, 348 (44.5%) voted for Seohyun as the “girl group member who shows the best natural beauty”.

A representative of the cosmetic surgery hospital explained, “First place taker SNSD’s Seohyun has a friendly face. Her natural beauty results from her confidence and ability to showcase her strong points.”

Other girl group members who ranked in the top three were KARA’s Han Seung Yeon (210 votes, 28%), and 2NE1’s Sandara Park (189 votes, 24.1%).

SNSD to Release a Book in Japan

Korean girl group SNSD are reported to be releasing a book in Japan soon. No guys, it’s not a photo book but a real, legit book.

The SNSD book, which is tentatively titled SNSD Information Record, will hit bookstores in November for ¥1050 (US $ 13).

This book will include SNSD’s member introduction, sayings, pictures, details on their activities, fashion secrets, etc. Although SNSD is still a newbie group in Japan and it is rare for newbies to release a book, fans have high expectations for it.

Moreover, according to HMV, the following are the different sections or chapters of the SNSD book:

• Sexy & Cute! Let’s Dancing
• The cute secrets of the 9 members you want to know more about
• Fundamental knowledge of knowing SNSD
• Secrets to being fashionable

JYJ Sets Sales Record with 6.8 Billion Won Income in One Day

Artist trio JYJ recently set a sales record by making around 6.8 billion won, or $6 million USD, off their debut album, ‘The Beginning,’ in just one day.

The album, which is set to be released on the 12th, received an overwhelming number of sales because of successful pre-ordering and ticket sales made at a showcase at a Korean university.  Because the album was so popular, its price eventually rose to 41,600 won each, or $37 USD. Although there were only 99,999 copies of the album’s special luxury edition made, around 400,000 orders for it were made, while 200,000 orders for the regular-edition album were made during a single day. In addition, tickets for an 11,000-seat concert in Seoul were sold out in just 15 minutes and earned the boys about half a million US dollars, or 600 million won.

Because the album received so much popularity, the producers have stated, “We will considering releasing the special album in other different forms” to accommodate those who did not receive a chance to make their orders.

B2ST released the making-of-video for their “Soom” MV on October 7th.

The clip reveals the members’ friendly and warm sides, such as when Doojoon and Dongwoon imitate the voices of other stars in order to make the fatigued staff members laugh.

Doojoon even turned their deserted film set into a motor show and made a comedic introduction by using lead vocal Yoseob as one of the models.

The boys were also revealed to be completely professional throughout the actual filming, as Yoseob sang live consistently for all his parts. The members each made sure to monitor their cuts as well.

B2ST will be holding their comeback stage on Mnet’s “M Countdown” on the 7th.

Thai government blames K-pop girl groups for rise in Dengue fever cases

 

n October 5th, MBC’s “News Today” reported that Thailand has been enjoying the popularity of Korean girl groups immensely, particularly by copying their fashion styles. Nicknamed the “Korean Style,” hot pants have become a staple item among Thailand’s youth.

However, with the increasing cases of Dengue fever in Thailand, the government has specifically targeted Korea’s hot pants as the reason behind the rise.

The deputy director of the Ministry of Health and Welfare stated in an interview with MBC, “The youth have been copying Korean styles and wearing shorter clothing, making them more susceptible to mosquito bites. We are suggesting that they wear longer clothing in place of shorts.”

BoA’s spread leg dance sparks controversy

BoA has been impressing the nation with her newest track “Copy & Paste” but even Korea’s best singer is sparking some controversy.

Her new song’s choreography has a part where she spreads her legs and bends down. This move has become the centre of debate because it’s been deemed as ‘too sexual’.

The netizens have split opinions about the dance. Some are saying,

“I was watching it with my family and it was a bit awkward.”
“Rainbow’s dance is nothing compared to this.”
“Isn’t that too sexual even though it’s BoA?”
“It’s short but still inappropriate for a show that has a 15+ age rating.”

SNSD’s Daum search application CF

Even though the members of SNSD or Girls’ Generation are quite busy with their overseas activities in Japan, Korean fans were surprised with a pleasant gift of a CF for Daum’s search application showing the girls’ normal life. The commercial has four parts divided between the members.

Part one is between Yoona and Yuri as they search for a crab restaurant while getting their nails done. Seeing as typing on touch screen devices is rather difficult with fresh nail polish on, Yoona has a frustrating fit while Yuri saves the day with her wit. Part two is between Seohyun and Sooyoung where the former day dreams about a date on an island. Part three is between Taeyeon and Jessica chatting while searching for the latest posts or news on Jessica. It is another natural scene depicting a casual day between Taeyeon & Jessica. Lastly, part four involves Sunny, Hyoyeon and a napping Tiffany as they pass the time by reading fan letters.
